Jakarta – The National Mandate Party (PAN) has announced its position on the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) gubernatorial election in the simultaneous regional elections in 2024. The PAN has also extended its support to the Lalu Muhammad Iqbal-Indah Putri Damayanti (Iqbal-Dinda) pair to contest the NTB gubernatorial election in 2024.

The recommendation letter was issued directly by PAN General Chairman Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas at his residence Jalan Vidya Chandra Raya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Zulhos said in a statement: “After an in-depth study, we have decided to select Iqbal and Ms. Dinda as candidates for governor and vice-chairman of NTB.”

DPW PAN NTB Chairman Muazzim Akbar, PAN Secretary General Muhammad Eddy Dwiyanto Soeparno, DPP PAN Desk Team Chairman Pilkada Yandri Susanto, PAN Treasurer General and several day-to-day administrators were also present at the presentation of the recommendation letter.

Later, Lalu Iqbal was accompanied by NTB governorship candidate Indah Damayanti Putri, wearing a blue batik with a white pattern of the PAN flag.
Zulhos also said he was interested in supporting the pair formed by the former Turkish ambassador and the regent of Bima for two terms.
“Why, because we made a decision through in-depth study. Based on the background of both of us, their backgrounds. We have known each other for a long time, so we are not new acquaintances,” said Zulhos.
Indonesia’s Trade Minister said Lalu Iqbal was a person of many achievements. He said the man, who was born in Praia in central Lombok, was one of the most successful ambassadors ever to be in power.
“He is a legendary ambassador, what a legend, the most successful, the most successful, as well as bureaucrats, not only bureaucrats, but technocrats with strong character,” he added.
Zulhos believes that the duo formed by Iqbal and Dinda are capable of leading NTB to progress. He even said that a province with the nickname of Gumi Gora will be in their hands.
“We believe that the Iqbal-Dinda duo can take NTB even further. I invite you to come, to meet the people of NTB, together we decided to elect Iqbal-Dinda,” he said.
On the other hand, DPW PAN NTB Chairman Mauzzim Akbar confirmed this. He said that the letter B of the KWK political party’s endorsement model will be a condition for the Iqbal-Dinda duo to register with the General Election Commission (KPU) next August.
“That’s right, Ketum (Zulhos) delivered directly tonight,” Muazzim said.
Muazzim has not yet been able to provide further information on the transfer of support conditions to the former Turkish ambassador and vice president of Bima for two terms.
For reference, according to the results of the 2024 legislative elections, the PAN has 4 seats in the NTB DPRD. Iqbal and Dinda still need 10 seats in the party to win this year’s gubernatorial elections.
