“Manchester United have appointed René Hayek and Ruud van Nistelrooy as men’s assistant coaches until June 2026 under Eric Ten Haag,” the Red Devils posted on their official website on Thursday.

Ten Haag himself welcomed the arrival of his two compatriots, saying that Van Nistelrooy and Rene Heik will bring experience, knowledge and new energy to the coaching staff.

“I am happy that René and Ruud have agreed to join our project. Now is a good time to renew the coaching staff, we will build on the achievements of the past two years and move to the next level,” said Eric Ten Haag.

Nistelrooy was once a goal-scoring machine for the Red Devils. In 2001, he joined the “MU” national team. At that time, he broke Manchester United’s record for the most expensive transfer with a transfer fee of 19 million pounds from PSV Eindhoven. The person who was born on July 1, 1976, was still 24 years old when he was sent to M.

In five seasons, Nistelrooy’s goal tally has always reached double figures. His best tally was in the 2002/2003 season, when he scored 44 goals in 52 games.

His worst record came in the 2004/2005 season, when he scored “only” 16 goals in 27 games. Nistleroy responded to Fergie’s faith with 150 goals in five seasons.

In 2006, Nistelrooy moved to Real Madrid. MU released the striker, often referred to as Ruudtje, for a relatively cheap fee for a goal machine like Nistelrooy; it was around £12m.

Although he was entering his golden years at the time, the 29-year-old Nistelrooy’s scoring performance was not bad in his final season with Manchester United, with 24 goals in 47 games.
