In fact, of the three brands from the land of cherry blossoms, Suzuki is the first to enter the retro scooter segment through the Suzuki Saluto 125, available in Taiwan from 2020.

Now that the Saluto 125 is turning 4 years old, it is no surprise that rumours of an update are being widely discussed and Thailand is one of the countries believed to launch this automatic motorcycle, as reported by Greatbikers on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 as cited.

The Suzuki Saluto 125 was previously rumoured to enter the Indonesian market in 2022, when it has been on the market for almost two years, but it never arrived. So what has changed in that time?

Changes include a new colour and a reconfiguration of the combustion engine’s working system to make it more efficient.

The S-logo autonomous motorcycle has received revisions to the ECU, or engine control unit, and exhaust pipe, i.e. the tailpipe, to reduce exhaust gas emissions and comply with new pollution regulations in Taiwan.

Powered by a 124cc SOHC single-cylinder engine, its maximum power output is just 10 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Suzuki claims the engine only needs one litre of petrol to cover a distance of 51.1 km.

However, by changing the ignition and fuel distribution system to reduce emissions, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer claims its fuel consumption has become more economical, reaching 62.1 kilometers per liter.

This means it consumes less fuel than Honda’s new motorcycle, the Spacy 125, which was officially launched in China. This retro-style automatic bike from the welding wing manufacturer is equipped with a 125cc engine, but with a fuel consumption of 55 km per litre or 1.8 litres per 100 km.

In addition to the changes to this system, the automatic that competes with the Vespa LX 125 will receive new colours, including Luca green and Genoa red with a combination of black on the dashboard and footrests.

The main lighting is LED with DRL (Daytime Running Light) as a sweetener due to the classic speedometer elements between analogue and digital. In addition, the rear brake lights and indicators are powered by LED.

The new Suzuki Saluto 125 is equipped with a smart key and there is a USB port for charging smartphones in the front dashboard drawer. In the underground section, it rests on 10 ICNI wheels wrapped in 100/90 tyres.
