FIFA Ranking Update: No Indonesian national team will shake up Southeast Asia


Jakarta, VIVA – The World Football Association (FIFA) has released an update of the ranking of the national teams of all countries as of today, Thursday, September 19, 2024. A number of new surprises are emerging, especially in Southeast Asia.

However, Indonesia’s national team did not advance in ASEAN. In fact, the biggest change has been experienced by neighbouring countries amid the presence of the Garuda team in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region.

The country in question is Brunei Darussalam. The team nicknamed Tebuan is the team that has risen the most in the FIFA rankings to date.

They have managed to climb seven places. The Brunei Darussalam national team is currently ranked 183rd, up from 190th.

This record also made them the best team in the world. Meanwhile, the Indonesian team managed to beat Malaysia.

Garuda is currently ranked 129th in the world. Meanwhile, Malaysia is ranked 132nd. The rivalry between the two neighbouring countries is no longer fierce in the FIFA rankings.

Because in the future, Indonesia’s national team will be predicted. As they are currently the only ASEAN representatives in the third round of qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
