Zenia Mucha, former Disney Comms executive, will take over TikTok marketing after Kate Xavier leaves

Zenia Mucha, who previously served as Disney’s chief communications officer and chief brand and communications officer before joining TikTok last year, will add oversight of the company’s marketing to her responsibilities. informationThe social video app’s current global marketing director, Kate Javeri, will step down at the end of September, with Mucha taking over next Monday.

Mucha wrote in a message to employees that he and Jhaveri discussed how to structure TikTok’s marketing function to “best meet the needs of the business,” according to the report.

“Together we decided that the best way to achieve this vision was to terminate the Global Chief Marketing Officer,” Mucha wrote, “and bring everyone within Global Brand & Comms together under one leader, aligning our work and goals with a holistic vision.”

Mucha previously reorganized TikTok’s communications team and hired another Disney veteran to lead media relations. TikTok laid off members of its marketing team last spring as part of a broader reorganization spanning marketing, content and operations.

Javeri first joined TikTok in November 2022 after serving as the National Basketball Association’s chief marketing officer.

Mucha began working with TikTok as an outside consultant in the spring of 2023, when the company clashed with Congress over a ban on the controversial Chinese-owned social video service, a potential threat that still hangs over the company. He joined the company in June 2023 as its communications officer.
