“A team from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Tagana has collected and evaluated data to determine the impact of the earthquake,” said Plt. Director of PSKBA Masriani Mansur in Jakarta, Friday (20/9/2024).

On Thursday (19.09.2024) at 16:45 VIT, an earthquake of 5.6 degrees in intensity and 10 km in depth occurred, with its epicenter in the sea 47 km northeast of Daruba.

As a result of the earthquake, several houses were damaged. In Morotai Jaya district, especially in Chempaka village, 6 houses and 3 houses were recorded to have suffered minor damage, while in Lebanon village, it was also reported that there are houses with serious and minor damage, but the data is still in the collection process.

“No damage was reported in East Morotai, North Morotai, Southwest Morotai and Pulau Rai,” Masriani said.

Masriani said that according to reports from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Tagana groups, which were in the area of ​​the natural disaster, none of the residents have been evacuated so far. Residents whose houses were severely damaged still have a place to live.

“Residents who have suffered serious damage can apply for assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs for housing materials (BBR) through Social Services, then we will check it first by looking at the results of the assessment,” Masriani said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, together with Tagana, continues to monitor the condition of residents in the earthquake disaster zone.
