Bumi Resources’ compatibility contributes to the development of the national industry: 97 percent of purchases are of local products


Jakarta, VIVA – PT Bumi Resources, Tbk (BUMI) is committed to fostering the development and sustainability of the domestic industry. One way is to consistently prioritize local suppliers through consumer activities.

BUMI, through one of its business units, namely PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), recorded purchases of domestic goods and services worth USD 2.215 billion during 2023. This figure is equivalent to 97 percent of the total purchase of goods and services (domestic and abroad).

The same was demonstrated last year (2022), with the proportion of purchases of goods and services from local and domestic suppliers reaching 97 percent of the total purchase volume. Therefore, it can be said that the contribution and policy of BUMI branches in determining the preference for local suppliers is quite appropriate.

BUMI Vice President of Investor Relations and Chief Economist Ahmad Reza Wijaja said empowering local suppliers is one of the key points of the principles. In 2023, of the total domestic goods and services spent by KPC, US$4.96 million will come from 35 supporting suppliers. It is expected that community empowerment through industrial development around mining areas can encourage local supplier partners to further develop and become more competitive.
