‘Chosen Universe’ expands with Moses & Joseph spin-offs, animated series and Bear Grylls series

Dallas Jenkins, creator of Angel Studios’ The Chosen One series, is set to launch a Christian film and television universe with spinoffs centered on biblical heroes Moses and Joseph.

The announcement was made during the first day of the ChosenCon Insider Conference (dubbed “ChosenCon”) in Orlando, along with the establishment of Studio 5&2 Jenkins, who will oversee production.

“Almost every time I meet with an audience, they say something that they want more biblical content from us. I always say that we should not get ahead of ourselves and be focused, but now we have a strong team to expand our efforts. It has been selected,” he said.

“I’m so excited to take our ‘Chosen Path’ to stories bigger than the Bible, and it’s amazing that we’re announcing it first to the fans who helped us get here long before we were popular,” he told the crowd of 5,000 fans.

Among the planned projects is the 14-episode “Chosen Adventures,” about a 9-year-old girl in the town of Capernaum in Galilee, circa A.D. 30. The animated series features the voices of Paul Walter Hauser, Yvonne Orji and Jordin Sparks. “Chosen” executive producer Ryan Swanson will also executive produce.

Also on the agenda is “The Chosen One in the Wild with Bear Grylls,” a six-episode unscripted adventure series in which a celebrity survivor takes a “Chosen One” cast member on an outdoor adventure.

Other projects in development include a three-season series about Moses’ companion at the Red Sea, a limited series about the life of Joseph (whose multicolored cloak inspired Broadway musicals), and “Acts of the Apostles”.

Jenkins also directed the upcoming Lionsgate film The Best of Christmas Pageant.
