Bahlil to elected members of the DPR of RI 2024-2029: Perhaps some of you will be appointed to the Cabinet

Jakarta, VIVA – Golkar Party President General Bahlil Lahadalia has sent a message to all party cadres who were elected as members of the DPR RI in the 2024 elections for the 2024-2029 term. Bahlil revealed that some of the elected members may not be in the DRC but may be appointed to the Prabowo Subianto – Gibran Rakabuming Raka government cabinet.

“I would also like to remind you that some of you may not be appointed as you may be selected for the next government cabinet,” Bakhli said at a meeting at the Golkar Party DPP, in Slipi, West Jakarta, Friday evening, September 20, 2024.

Here were Meutya Hafid, Adies Qadir, Sarmuji, Puteri Komarudin and Maman Abdurrahman. A senior politician who still serves as the chairman of the Indonesian People’s Council, Bambang Soesatyo, was present. Bahlil, who also serves as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), continued his message to the elected members of the DPR.

He stressed the importance of his role in supporting the next government, especially in relation to the established political coalition.

“I understand that some of you may not be appointed as members of the PDP because you will be appointed as cabinet members. But those who are appointed, have a great responsibility to support the government in the future, especially in the programmes that we have committed to develop together successfully,” he said.

According to Bahlil, the elected members of the DPR must be willing to adapt to the vision and mission of the governments of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He also recalled that the DRC can play three main roles to the extent possible: legislative, budgetary and control.

“Of course, there are many things that need to be corrected and can be corrected in the performance of their duties. But the most important thing is how to best support the government’s policy. Apart from the legislative duty, the most important duty is to oversee the execution of the budget and ensure control over the policies adopted by the government,” Bahlil said.

Bahlil also mentioned the existence of opportunities for staff on the constituency list (dapil), especially the replacement of members who are later entrusted with the post of minister. The party is preparing for this mechanism.

“If a member of the Cabinet of Ministers enters, of course there will be another list in the constituency. But as for the mechanism, we will see what happens in the future,” he said.
