Jonathan became the only representative of Indonesia among men after losing to eighth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Thailand’s Kunlawut Witidsarn in the quarter-finals on Friday (20/9).

Ginting lost 21-10, 11-21, 19-21 after three long matches.

“It’s unfortunate, but there’s no denying that we really struggled with the pitch after the third break. Kunlavut felt it in the first game and I felt it in the second,” Ginting said in his official statement.

“I tried, but there aren’t many options when it comes to playing. I tried to be more offensive, more reckless, but it didn’t work.”

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto also suffered the same fate as they had to pack their bags in the quarter-finals, leaving Fikri/Daniel in the men’s doubles division.

Fajar/Rian were stopped after stopping Malaysia’s Ong Yu Sin/Teo Ei Yee 21-14, 17-21, 14-21. (Ant)
