It took a long time to decide on Kadin’s national conference, OC chairman: Arsjad Rasjid did not respond to the call for dialogue


Jakarta, VIVA – President of the National Network of Entrepreneurs or Japnas and President organizing committee Munaslub Kadin Indonesia or Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bayu Priawan Jokosoetono emphasized that the Munaslub celebration last week did not happen suddenly.

Bayu said the process of discussing the national conference dragged on for a long time. It even started with plans to meet with former Kadin chairman Arsjad Rasjid. However, Arsjad never responded to the call for dialogue.

– The process of determining the Munaslub event has been taking a long time. Efforts were made to engage in dialogue with Arsjad Rasjid long before the National Conference in order to satisfy all the opinions and complaints of the association members and Kadinda. Unfortunately, the dialogue meeting never took place. “This reinforces the assumptions of the associations and Kadinda that Kadin under Arsjad does not protect them sufficiently and is less able to cooperate with the government,” Bayu said in a statement on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

This is what prompted the business association as an extraordinary member (ALB) together with several general presidents of the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Kadinda) to hold a National Conference in Jakarta, Saturday, September 14, 2024. Munaslub approved Anindya Bakri as the general president of Kadin for the years 2024-2029.

Bayu explained that several associations often felt abandoned during the previous Kadin administration, even though they had voting rights as ALBs.

“This will cause Kadin to fall even further behind, reducing the opportunity to optimally contribute to the development of the national economy and hampering efforts to take local entrepreneurs to the next level,” he said.

He hopes that under the leadership of Anindya Bakri, Kadin will respond quickly to the voices of the union. In addition, the new leadership is expected to attract trade associations or associations like ALB to be more active and specific in the country’s economic development activities.

Bayu added that the former general’s boss has entered the political field. This is contrary to the Presidential Order or Presidential Decree. 18 of 2022 on the approval of amendments to the statutes and bylaws of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Article 14 of the Presidential Decree emphasizes that Kadin is independent, not a state organization, not a political organization and/or a part of it that does not benefit from its activities.

On the other hand, the President General of the Indonesian Businesswomen Association (Iwapi), Nita Yudi, who is also the Secretary of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, explained that the National Conference of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry based on the previous entry and the official request letter from the President Generals of Kadinda.

“The National Conference was then held because the Kadin Advisory Council should be able to facilitate and implement the National Conference that was requested,” he said.

He stressed that there is no government initiative in Munaslub. Everyone from Kadinda and the association as Extraordinary Members of Kadinda.
