According to him, Arsjad Rasjid will participate in the position of chairman of the pre-election group of one of the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election, because, according to him, Arsjad, who remains the General President of KADIN Indonesia, is considered a politician and his participation in the leadership of the campaign group for the presidential election is detrimental to the OLDEST members of the region.

Since the start of the 2024 presidential election campaign, several KADIN officials in the regions have considered that they are no longer called upon to coordinate with the regional government (Pemda). If Kadinda organizes an event to increase the capacity of local entrepreneurs, for example, the regional government does not want to participate because it does not have the courage or because it is worried about being favored as one of the presidential candidate pairs.

This was the case for Arsjad Rasjid, who was then the General President of KADIN Indonesia and chose to become the President of the Winning National Team (TPN) for the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Ganjar Pranovo and Mahfud MD.

Vidyanto added that his party can understand the regional government’s attitude of staying away from KADIN. Because, as officials (ASN), the regional government must remain neutral. On the other hand, Arsjad Rasid, as number one in Kadin at the time, expressed his support for a pair of candidates for the position of president and vice president.

In addition, Vidyanto said that Kadin is seen as passive in expressing the interests of the industry and the business world at large. For example, when there was a problem with the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 36 of 2023 on import policies and regulations, Kadin did not speak out at that time. In fact, many associations try to have problems with the Minister of Trade Regulation 36/2023.

“In the end it was another association that took the initiative, namely the Indonesian Business Association (Apindo),” he said.

According to him, when the price of gas caused concern among the actors in the domestic ceramics trade, Kadin did not play any role in mediating with the government at that time. As a result, it is the associations that take their own measures to respond to the challenges they face.

“In these circumstances, the association’s managers met and stressed that Kadin members will not receive help if they are not on the same wavelength as the government,” he said.

Over the past few months, he said, entrepreneurs who are members of Kadin and trade associations such as extraordinary members (ALB) of Kadin want Kadin, which is an organization of entrepreneurs, to align itself with government programs.

For this reason, he said, his party has been in close contact with several of Kadin’s colleagues since July 2024. This was done because at the end of 2023 there were voices of concern about Kadin’s position, who was considered distant from the government.

“The conditions are dangerous. If Kadin cannot be on the same wavelength as the government, it will be left behind in many ways. This ultimately led Kadinda and ALB to call for a national conference,” he said.
