Sex, lies and murder abound in the first trailer for “Lake of Bones,” the new film from “Fixation” filmmaker Mercedes Bryce Morgan. In this exclusive first look ahead of the film’s release in A fantastic festivalTwo young couples are mistakenly double-booked at the same vacation rental, turning their romantic weekend into a tangled (and angry) maze that turns bloody.
Bone Lake, a combination of the early 2000s erotic thriller and Lifetime horror film, stars Marco Pigossi, Maddie Hasson, Alex Roe and Andra Nechita.
“When I set out to direct Bone Lake, the first thing that drew me to it was its duality; on the one hand, it offers the typical thrills and escapism of a ‘popcorn flick’ and on the other, it supports a subtle story about modern relationships,” Morgan said in a statement. “The heady appeal of gratuitous sex and visceral violence, but we also yearn for a story anchored in emotion, trust and true partnership.”
The teaser conveys all of this and promises a great time for Fantastic Fest attendees on Saturday.
