A zoo in China has admitted to using chow chow dogs to dye their fur black and white to resemble the features of the popular panda bears.
According to the publication local mediaThe zoo’s manager said they wanted to add a new attraction to attract more visitors and boost the park’s popularity. The zoo’s intention was to allow visitors to enjoy the fun that comes with harmonious coexistence between humans and animals, he added.
However, when people found out the truth, the attraction instantly turned into doubts and heated discussions about this behavior.
Some netizens praised the park’s creativity, while others seriously questioned the fact, claiming that regardless of whether the dye is safe for animals, it can cause psychological stress to dogs.
This case where dogs are painted as pandas is not the first in China. Last May, different tourists reported a similar situation at Taizhou Zoo (Jiangsu Province).
