Jeffrey Dean Morgan to host NBC reality show ‘Destination X’

Jeffrey Dean Morgan will not have a script to host NBC’s ‘Destination X’.

The “Walking Dead” star will embark on his first unscripted project as he hosts and produces the travel competition reality series, which marks the second collaboration between NBCUniversal and the BBC, following “Betrayers.”

“Destination X” originates from a format in Belgium, which drops contestants off at an undisclosed location and forces them to find their secret destination using clues on a blacked-out Destination X bus. The game also throws out a wrong pair for contestants to guess.

“At the end of each episode, contestants must guess where they are and how much further from the actual location they will be sent packing,” the official report reads. The first contestant to reach location X is the winner.

“’Destination X’ blew me away with its combination of travel, mystery and gameplay,” Morgan said in a statement Thursday. “I can’t wait to start playing this wild guessing game around the world as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding players through challenges that will test their physical and mental abilities.”

“Jeffrey Dean Morgan embodies an international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppeteer for this new adventure series,” said Corey Henson, executive vice president, content, competition and game shows, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “He’s charming, charming, playful and the ultimate travel companion!”

“When we thought about who we wanted to travel the world with, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the first person that came to mind,” said Universal Television Alternative Studios President Toby Gorman. “‘Destination X’ is packed with adventure, excitement and intrigue – all qualities that Jeffrey exemplifies.”

Best known for his role as Negan on The Walking Dead, Morgan’s other television credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, Weeds, The Good Wife, Magic City, and Texas Rising. He also reprised his Walking Dead role on The Walking Dead: Dead City and recently joined the cast of The Boys.

Morgan is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and Goodman, Genov, Shenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
