Sean “Diddy” Combs was charged with sex trafficking and criminal conspiracy

Renowned rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on Monday after being accused of several crimes, some dating back to 2009.

The indictment, unsealed Tuesday, accuses the 54-year-old music industry mogul of abusing, threatening and coercing women for years “to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct.”

“To do so, Combs relied on the employees, resources, and influence of the multifaceted business empire he led and controlled, creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, human trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice,” reads the indictment, which has been reviewed by the court. Marc Agnifilo, a lawyer for the artist also known as Puff Daddy, said after the arrest that “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, doting on his children and working to uplift the black community.”

“He is a flawed person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has fully cooperated with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” the lawyer added in a statement published by the aforementioned magazine.
