“The turnover value of the ongoing exhibition reached over IDR 100 trillion, or an increase of IDR 91.652 trillion compared to the previous year,” he said.

Citing data from Precedence Research, in 2022 the economic value generated by MICE in 2024 could reach $998.59 billion worldwide.

The Asia-Pacific region has the largest share of the MICE market, with a 44 percent share compared to North America (30 percent) or even Europe, which is only 20 percent.

Edwin also gave an example of what has happened with the JCC as an initiator and catalyst of the MICE industry in the country. According to him, many global event organizers (EOs) use the JCC to carry out their agenda of activities in Indonesia.

Some of the world-class events held at JCC in recent times include Inter-Parliamentary Union, Koelnmesse Pte Ltd, Asia Pacific Coatings Exhibition, Taiwan Expo, Indonesia Geothermal Convention (IIGCE), Homeland Security and many others.

During 2023, he said, 145 cooperation agreements will be signed with various events, both national and multinational, including government, public and private newspapers.

“In this MICE business trip, a series of musical concerts and performing arts events are also one of the main attractions for visitors coming to the JCC. There are many different commercial and industrial players who make the JCC their destination to reach markets and business cooperation,” he said.
