B40 to be implemented by 2025 Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources: We are just getting started!

Jakarta – Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Orifin Tasrif said the implementation of 40 percent biodiesel, referred to as B40, will be implemented by 2025. Biodiesel contains 40 percent or B40 biodiesel. fatty acid methyl ester Palm oil (FAME) makes up 40 percent of diesel fuel.

“Yes (B40 implementation in 2025). Wait for it (implementation),” Orifin said during a meeting at his office on Friday, July 12, 2024.

He confirmed that the implementation steps of the B40 are now waiting for the time to be implemented. This is because before the B40 is ready for use by the public, a series of stages have also been completed.

The stages completed before the start of work are the preparation of support materials, financing and product testing. “In-put into operation alone – said Orifin.

In addition to the implementation of B40, Arifin stressed that his party is also working to reduce emissions from cars using high-sulfur fuels.

“We are looking for a compound that can really reduce the sulfur content. Right now we are still at 500 BPM. If standardEURO 5 should be below 50 BPM,” he said.

For your information, the Lemigaz Oil and Gas Testing Centre (BBPMGB) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has previously started testing the use of B40 biodiesel in the construction of generator engines and heavy industrial vehicles. The focus is on starting to see if the generator engine can be started with B40 fuel, which is a mixture of diesel with 40% biodiesel.

In 2022, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also conducted road tests of the B40 on 12 four-wheeled vehicles. Six of them are cars weighing less than 3.5 tons, and the daily mileage of 50,000 kilometers is 560 kilometers.
