Fifty youths rob a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles, the latest in a series of robberies at the chain

A group of about 50 young men on bicycles crashed into a 7-Eleven in Pico-Robertson on Friday night, the latest in a series of recent robberies targeting the convenience chain, authorities said.

A group of juveniles, believed to be between 12 and 15 years old, entered the store at 8500 W. Olympic Blvd. They stole several items around 7:25 p.m., according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. Most of the juveniles fled the scene before authorities arrived, he said.

It is not yet known how many items were stolen or damaged.

In the same store was suitable for the purpose – also by a group of about 50 teenagers on bicycles – on August 9, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles.

A week later, a group of young bikers held up two 7-Elevens in Hollywood. And on August 24, a similar attack occurred at a 7-Eleven in San Pedro.

The San Pedro raid prompted Los Angeles City Councilman Tim McOsker to increase the number of LAPD officers to help prevent such robberies.

“It’s not just about the property damage or the stolen items, but it’s about the victim, the employee who fears for their safety and the neighbor who is afraid and now there’s no grocery store around the corner,” McOsker said. “I find it very concerning that these types of incidents are becoming more common.”
