The rumor arose after the former Brazilian national team player followed or unfollowed the official Instagram page of Persib Bandung.

These rumors were intensified because as of January 1, 2024, Pato was without a club after being released by the Sao Paulo club of the Brazilian league.

Meanwhile, Maung Bandung currently has a quota of foreign players left, so joining the player who has 27 caps for the Brazilian national team is not an option.

Recently, Persib brought in two foreign players: Gustavo Franca and Mateo Kosiyan. Both of them replace Alberto Rodriguez and Stefano Beltrame, who did not renew their contracts.

Meanwhile, Bojan Hodak, coach of the Persib team, said that this season he will fill the quota of eight foreign players.

Some of the foreign players currently in the Maung Bandung squad include David da Silva, Nick Kuipers, Ciro Alves, Tyrone Del Pino, Kevin Ray Mendoza, Gustavo Franca and Mateo Cosian.

Boyan confirmed that the remaining spot will be filled by a foreign striker.

“Of course (the remaining spot will be filled by a player) in the attacking position,” Bojan told reporters at the Arkamanik SPorT Stadium in Bandung, Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Although he has been heavily linked, Persib Bandung has not confirmed that they will bring Pato back next season.

For information purposes, Pato, now 34, played for top European clubs such as Chelsea and Villarreal before playing for Milan and Sao Paulo.
