According to VIVA Militar from the official Dispenad statement, on Friday, September 20, 2024, the inauguration of 50 freshwater sources for farmers took place in the village of Tarabunga, Tampahan district, Toba.

Chief of Army Staff General Maruli Seemantsuntak arrived accompanied by his beloved wife and Chief General Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana. Uli Simanjuntak said that clean drinking water is very important as a basic necessity that has a direct impact on the quality of life of the people.

“The existence of these 50 water sources is expected to contribute to improving the well-being of the community, especially sanitation and agriculture. “In the Toba region, this is the first step, we will continue it, and TNI AD has about 2,700 water sources. Water sources have just been built in several regions of Indonesia,” said the Chief of Army Staff, General Maruli Simanjuntak, speaking to the Toba community.

He also said that the programme to build 50 freshwater sources in the Toba region is the result of cooperation between the Indonesian military, the regional government and several non-governmental organisations.

In addition to inaugurating the freshwater source, General Maruli also spoke about the immediate demonstration of a pontoon transporting freshwater hyacinth waste on Lake Toba.

On this occasion, the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Maruli Simanjuntak, handed over three pontoons to the governments of the Toba, Samosir and Simalungun regions. It is hoped that this innovation can contribute to the restoration of the environment, especially to maintaining the purity of Lake Toba.

“Requests for help in restoring the environment came from various areas such as Jatiluhur, Manado and Lake Toba. Our members worked hard to transport the garbage until we innovated to build this pontoon. It is hoped that this innovation can be continued by local governments to protect the environment,” said Kasad.

In addition to the pontoon, Kasad also provided assistance in the form of nutritious food, humanitarian aid and sports equipment as part of TNI AD’s concern for the welfare of the community.

With this clean water and pontoon assistance program, the Chief of Army Staff hopes that TNI AD can play an active role in supporting infrastructure development that directly affects people’s lives while also contributing to environmental protection efforts.
