He also thanked the central Lombok regional government for speaking out in support of paying for the free MotoGP Indonesia event to be held, although it has not been officially proposed.

Previously, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government (Pemprov) stated that it has not yet agreed to pay the 2024 MotoGP hosting fee of IDR 213.29 billion. The NTB Provincial Government has also requested the central government to help pay for the Mandalika MotoGP.

“Because the budget of Rs 213.29 billion is a very large budget for the region. We are sure that the center also understands this condition because our APBD is also assessed by the central government,” said Assistant III of NTB Regional Secretariat Wirawan Ahmed, quoted by Antara’s VIVA Otomotif.

He further argued that this huge funding could undermine central government policies given the limited APBD. Meanwhile, NTB provincial DPRD chairman Baik Iswi Rupaeda said that the financial situation of the NTB provincial government currently only allows for repaying debts.
