This was stated by Dito in a press conference at the PON XXI 2024 Media Center, North Aceh-Sumatra, Santika Hotel, Medan City, Friday afternoon, September 20, 2024. He said that he set a record for a sporting event with the largest number of athletes while PON was in Indonesia.
“There are 13 thousand athletes in Aceh-North Sumatra PON. I hope that colleagues from the media will report comprehensive news because there are 65 sports, 11 types of exhibition. This means there are 76 sports fields,” Dito said.

“From the beginning until now, the news or documents that have gone viral have been on the negative side, but in fact the Aceh-North Sumatra SOP has many developments that we should appreciate. Especially the development in Aceh for sports, tourism and North Sumatra, but I think it is good for Aceh and North Sumatra,” Dito said.
Dito praised the preparation and implementation of the provincial governments of Aceh and North Sumatra, the Ministry of PUPR, KONI and related stakeholders who have greatly contributed to the success of PON 2024.
“The concept (PON) is very good in these two provinces. Therefore, it will ensure the rotation of PON hosts so that more areas can experience it,” Dito said.
Dito said that despite all the obstacles and challenges, this PON will be able to operate smoothly until the closing ceremony of PON 2024 on Friday, September 20, 2024.
“Besides, I am the Minister of Youth and Sports, who is fully responsible for this national sporting event, I apologize if it is not perfect. But with the existing evaluation, PON will improve in the future,” Dito explained.
