Puan on meeting SBY Jokowi at the Palace: Well, friendship must be done


Jakarta, VIVA – PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Chairman Puan Maharani responded to the meeting between the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and the President of the Republic of Indonesia Choko Widodo (Chokowi) at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Saturday, September 21, 2024. Puan described the meeting as a good thing.

However, Puan declined to comment further on the meeting. Puan also said he was not aware of the information given during Jokowi’s meeting with SBY.

“Yes, ask Mr Jokowi and Mr SBI. Why ask PDIP?” said the RDP chairman.

It was previously reported that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

During the meeting, SBY conveyed to President Jokowi his mandate as special advisor to the Global Partnership to Eradicate Malaria.

“I am confronting the President regarding the role and authority I will play as the UN Special Adviser on Malaria Eradication. I have been mandated to become the Special Adviser for the Asia-Pacific region,” SBY said in a statement on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

SBY also explained Indonesia’s commitment to reducing the number of malaria cases. During the meeting, SBY bid farewell to President Jokowi to attend the Global Forum of the Partnership Against Malaria or Asia-Pacific Leaders Alliance (APLMA) in New York, United States (US).

“I said that Indonesia is also interested in reducing the number of malaria patients in our country, and I am also committed to the Asia-Pacific region. I said goodbye by going to New York for about a week,” SBY said.
