Ridwan Kamil says he has two strategies to deal with traffic jams in Jakarta

JakartaVIVA – Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Ridwan Kamil (RK) has revealed the strategy he will use to alleviate Jakarta’s congestion problem, one of which is to extend the LRT and MRT lines to Transjakarta.

“The problem of congestion, God willing, we will solve it in two ways. First, facilitate the movement of the LRT, extend the MRT,” said RK while attending the victory ceremony of Ridwon Kamil-Suswono (Rido) of the Jakarta Golkari Party in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Saturday, September 21, 2024.

“After Transjakarta to Bogor City, Transjakarta to Bekasi; MRT from Tangerang to Bekasi, God willing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second way the former governor of West Java is doing is to reduce the movement of people. “If you can (warga) live there, work there, go to the mall.”

RK then said that there are very few middle-class apartments in Jakarta. He also wants to build social housing or affordable housing for the middle class in the center.

This is also in line with the application of the presidential candidate-elect for the 2024-2029 period Prabowo Subianto to RK-Suswono if he wins the Jakarta election in 2024.

“Since the land is running out, I said Mr. President, that’s it. But allow me and ask for help from all the markets in Jakarta, which are still two stories, one story, we will build the lower part as a shopping mall. Above there are apartments that can be inhabited by Jakartans who need them,” he said.

“So they can just walk, bike, reduce traffic, reduce congestion and be happy because their transportation costs can be reduced,” he said.
