Shri Mulyani discusses the application of scoring to reduce bad debts of SMEs


Jakarta – Non-performing loans (NPLs) are a problem often encountered in government efforts to support the development of small, medium and large enterprises (SMEs). One of the strategies implemented is Innovative Credit Scoring (ICS).

Finance Minister Shri Mulyani Indrawati said that non-performing loans are often a hindrance for banks to disburse commercial loans to the people (KUR). Therefore, he recently met with the Minister for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki.

“We visited the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Mr. @tetenmasduki_, to discuss Innovative Credit Scoring (ICS). A way to solve various credit problems for MSMEs in Indonesia,” Sri Mulyani said via Instagram @smindrawati on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Sri Mulyani said small and medium-sized enterprises make a significant contribution to economic development, employing up to 97 percent of Indonesia’s workforce. The government continues to grow because it is the backbone of the country’s economy.

The state treasurer therefore welcomed the implementation of the ICS for small and medium-sized businesses.

“I would like to inform Mr Teten that I welcome the implementation of the ICS for small and medium-sized enterprises. I will discuss this with colleagues from the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) in connection with this ICS,” he said.

“This will be very important. Collaboration in the design of various public financial instruments is necessary to help society, especially in this digital and highly connected era,” he continued.
